what is the kitten nursery?

The Little Paws Project’s kitten nursery was created with the mission to save as many kittens lives as possible.

Each year, hundreds of kittens under 8 weeks of age are euthanized in public shelters simply because they are not yet able to be adopted. Every day, kittens enter the shelter system by the buckets and they must exit somehow… HOW is up to you.

We have made it our mission to save these innocent souls by giving them a safe place to go while they grow big and strong and prepare for adoption. The kittens are medically assessed at intake with a two week quarantine. Once stable and old enough, the kittens can then be transferred to other approved rescue groups and organizations to get them adopted to loving homes and families. The nursery serves as a temporary safe haven – providing the most precious gift, that of time – to heal, to grow and escape the certain fate which would have awaited them at a crowded shelter which lacked the resources to care for them.

what it entails

Nursery volunteers are vital to saving kittens lives! This project provides kittens with a safe, warm place to stay while they grow big and strong enough to be adopted. At our on-site kitten nursery, we can house up to 50 kittens and rely on the help of volunteers like you to provide those kittens with the very best care.

While we do take in a small number of nursing mother cats, a majority of the kittens entering this project are orphaned and need a gentle and loving hand to help them become healthy, loving and social kittens ready to take on the world in their future forever home. That’s where you come in!

When volunteering at the kitten nursery, you will provide the following:

  • Cleaning kennels & keeping the nursery tidy

  • Caring for kittens

  • Socializing & play time

  • Bottle/Supplemental feeding kittens

Once your application is submitted, you will be contacted to schedule an orientation.
